The Glacier de Tsijiore Nouve is certainly the most spectacular glacier, that is already very well visible from Arolla. Equally spectacular is its moraine valley with its steep flanks. It gives an idea of the size of the glacier in 1850. Today, the slowly melting and deeply furrowed remains still lie here. They are still connected to the nourishing area, so they still form a real glacier, even if one might not suspect this from a quick glance at the scree layer.

Unlike Bas Glacier and even Haut Glacier d’Arolla, Glacier de Tsijiore Nouve is very difficult to access and dangerous. Although possible, a hike off trail here is not worthwhile.

Above the same place as above, but 400 m higher, the stormy flow of the ice from an altitude of more than 3,500 m to the end of the ice tongue at about 2,300 m is most beautiful. We can still imagine how the ice stream in the valley merged with that of the Glacier de Pièce and the Bas Glacier d’Arolla. This flow reached its maximum advance around about 1850 just before the Hotel du Mont Collon, which was built in 1862.

Closer to the steep slope, the wild inaccessibility of this world and, looking in the other direction, its light side with rounded slopes and green pastures.
