The Pas de Chèvres is the lowest passage from the Val d’Arolla to the Val des Dix. From Arolla, a beautiful hiking trail leads up to the pass, where a spectacular view opens up. The most immediate thing here are certainly the ladders that help overcome the steep drop into Val des Dix. The drop-off and also the rest of the trail are well secured with ropes. Nevertheless, many, especially with heavy luggage, prefer the nearby and only about 60 m higher Col de Riedmatten for the crossing. As a destination of a hike, however, the Pas de Chèvres is more rewarding. It opens a wonderful view on the glacier landscape of the Val des Dix and on the larger mountain panorama, in which even the Matterhorn can be found.
